Margarita Inspiration

Date Posted:9 April 2018

The Margarita, as its core, is a simple, delicious sour. There are (as is this case with so many cocktails) many stories about its origins, but one thing is for sure - the simple combination of tequila, lime and sweetener, with perhaps a splash of salt, has to be one of the longest lasting popular cocktails to date, and it’s downright fantastic.

The classic recipe runs like this:

Classic Margarita

  • 60ml blanco tequila
  • 30ml fresh lime juice
  • 20ml orange liqueur
  • Good quality salt flakes (for glass, if required)

Combine all ingredients except the salt in a shaker, add ice and shake. Fine strain into a cocktail glass (rim with salt if desired).  If you want to add a kick with some interesting salts, we have a variety of cocktail salts and glass rimmers available.

Another beautiful aspect about the Margarita is its flexibility to be modified into all sorts of wonderful combinations. From the frozen margaritas that dominated the 80's and 90's, to smoky and spicy versions using mezcal and bitters. We've got a few exciting combinations for you to try.
