In 1824, Dr. Johann G.B. Siegert created treatments and potions to cure digestive troubles among the soldiers of Simón Bolívar's army. Dr. Siegert perfected a formula that he called 'Amargo Aromatico', eventually known as Angostura aromatic bitters. The formulation was named after the town of Angostura (modern day Ciudad Bolívar) on the Orinoco River in Venezuela. Two centuries later, the now world-famous Angostura aromatic bitters is a quintessential ingredient for classic and contemporary cocktails.

A blend of various fruits, spices, and herbs creates the classic aromatic taste with prominent baking spice notes, especially clove.

Use in a Lemon, Lime & Bitters, classic cocktails such as the Old Fashioned and Manhattan, or try in the modern Trinidad Sour.

About Angostura:

It started in 1824, when founder Dr. Johann Siegert first produced aromatic bitters as a medicinal tincture designed to alleviate stomach ailments. In the 1870’s, Dr. Siegert’s three sons migrated to Trinidad, among them Don Carlos Siegert, who pioneered the brand, establishing Angostura aromatic bitters as an integral ingredient in cocktails and in food. The rest, as they say, is history. Angostura aromatic bitters is today a staple for bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts, professional and home cooks alike, bounded only by the creativity and imaginations of those who use it.

No suprised here in the quality of the produt but it's a bliss to have found the bigger version as I am a great lover of the Trinidad Sour and the smaller version only allows me 3 drinks.

I love Angostura Bitters. My husband and some friends enjoy it, too. We all like to mix it with Angostura Lemon Lime and Bitters Mixer poured into a cold glass from the freezer, and some ice cubes. Yummy. Simply delicious.
